Mahindra XUV 7XO Facelift Unveiled With Smart Features

Mahindra has unveiled the facelifted XUV700, now rebranded as the Mahindra XUV 7XO. This update builds on the original’s success, introducing significant changes in design, cabin experience, and features, making the SUV even more compelling.

The XUV 7XO comes in multiple variants: AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7 T, and AX7 L. While the engine options remain the same—powerful 2-liter turbo-petrol and 2.2-liter diesel—buyers can select the configuration that best suits their needs.

Booking & Delivery Details

Bookings for the XUV 7XO have been open since December 2025. Initial deliveries for AX7, AX7 T, and AX7 L variants will begin from January 14, with other models (AX, AX3, AX5) available from April 2026. Due to high demand, early customers may experience longer waiting periods—a common scenario with Mahindra SUVs.

Exterior Design: Evolutionary Yet Striking

Mahindra has taken an evolutionary approach with the XUV 7XO’s design, especially at the front. Key updates include:

  • New Single-Strip DRL: Replacing the previous dual-strips, giving a bolder look.
  • Pixel-Inspired Fog Lamps: Add a modern touch.
  • Alloy Wheels: Top variants get 19-inch alloys, while lower trims feature 18- or 17-inch wheels.
  • Distinct Taillights: Borrowed from the XEV 9S, detailed with pixel-like elements.
  • Side Profile: Largely unchanged, except for the new wheels.

Interior Updates: Modern & Feature-Rich

The cabin receives a substantial makeover:

  • Triple 12.3-inch Screens: Modernize the dashboard for a futuristic look.
  • Premium Black, Tan, and White Color Scheme: Ups the luxury quotient, but may be harder to maintain.
  • Chrome Two-Spoke Steering Logo: Replaces the illuminated logo from the electric version.
  • Physical AC Controls Removed: Now integrated into the infotainment system.

Features for Comfort & Convenience

  • 6- or 7-Seater Options: Still available, but sliding second-row seats are missing (unlike the XEV 9S).
  • BYOD Docks: For rear-seat entertainment.
  • Rear Sunshades & Wireless Charging: Enhance rear passenger experience.

Technology & Infotainment

  • 12.3-inch Digital Driver Display: Now supports lane watch camera and ADAS visualization.
  • 12.3-inch Touch Infotainment: Supports wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and connected car features.
  • Co-Driver Entertainment Screen: Lets the co-driver watch videos or order food/groceries.
  • Harman Kardon 16-Speaker Sound System: Delivers immersive audio.
  • 540-Degree Camera: Provides an all-around and underbody view.
  • Multi-Color Ambient Lighting, Panoramic Sunroof, Ventilated Rear Seats: Add to the premium feel.

Other features include dual-zone climate control, two wireless chargers, keyless entry, push-button start, powered driver’s seat with memory, and more.

Safety Features

Safety remains a priority with the XUV 7XO, retaining and enhancing its robust package:

  • 7 Airbags (6 Standard)
  • ABS with EBD, ESC
  • Front and Rear Parking Sensors
  • Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold
  • Level-2 ADAS

The XUV700 had a 5-star Global NCAP rating, and Mahindra expects similar results for the 7XO under Bharat NCAP.

Engine & Performance: No Change, Still Impressive

Engine options remain:

FWD/AWD (AT only)

Both engines are renowned for strong performance, especially on highways. The diesel, particularly with AWD, is the preferred choice for those who frequent rough roads. The turbo-petrol, while powerful, may deliver lower fuel efficiency in city conditions.

Off-Road Capability

With the diesel AWD variant, the XUV 7XO is well-suited for tackling challenging terrain, maintaining its reputation as a robust and versatile SUV.

XUV 7XO vs. the Competition

The XUV 7XO continues to compete strongly in the midsize SUV segment, rivaling:

  • Tata Safari: Now more appealing with turbo-petrol and new features.
  • MG Hector Plus: Stands out for comfort and recent updates.
  • Hyundai Alcazar: Slightly smaller, but still a worthy contender.

Conclusion

The Mahindra XUV 7XO builds upon the strengths of its predecessor, offering enhanced style, a tech-rich cabin, and premium features while retaining robust performance and safety. With its updated package, the XUV 7XO is poised to remain a bestseller and a top pick in the midsize SUV segment.
